Dick Cheney falling on his asterisk

After six months of the same old gutturals, Dick Cheney seems to be running out of buck-naked lies. Terrorists. Fear. Attacks. Obama.

He’s beginning to wear thin.

Yesterday, to sweeten the story, he finally said gay marriage is sorta OK. That comes after years of withholding public, fatherly support for his daughter. Was he afraid to support gay marriage while in office? Afraid of the rabid base?

Next, he announced what the rest of us have known for years: No connection, he said, between Saddam Hussein and Al Quaeda. And then he stopped short.

No apology. Instead, he blamed others.

It seems to me that Dick Cheney skipped over the part in the Good Book that he should have read. You know, the stuff about atonement.

However, he got the snake down real good.

Great stuff, George. I hope you caught the comment in the Austin American-Statesman's Insight section on Sunday, in which John Young of the Waco Tribune-Herald wrote a piece, saying, "Former Navy Seal and ex-Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura told Larry King, "You give me a water board, Dick Cheney and one hour, and I'll have him confess to the Sharon Tate murders."

The South Plainsman said...

Dang, George, did Cheney steal your candy when you were a child, or something?

Waterboard Cheney and he would claim his mother, daughter, wife et al. were terrorists. Waterboard a "suspect" and they will give up the names of anyone they don't like and then any other names that come to mind.

It's a war crime and Alberto Gonzales can't change that with a "legal opinion".

I have a friend who served two tours on a Swift Boat in Vietnam and went through the S.E.A.R.S. training. Like Ventura, he said it is torture.

He also related an experience where a young sailor in the training was blindfolded and told to "confess". He had nothing to say so a trainer held a weapon to the sailor's ear, slammed in a clip and held it to the subject's head. Still no confession. So... another trainer walked up behind the subject and fired another weapon into the air. The kid almost had a heart attack. Torture?

Just because we subject our own soldiers to such sick practices doesn't make it okay.

We did all of this http://www.rense.com/general36/history.htm to our own citizens. So is it legal?

Give me a break! George W. Bush,Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and anyone who authorized waterboarding should be prosecuted.

Until that happens Justice is not blind. --Ira

Worse. Cheney tried to steal my Constitution. And my Bill of Rights. He was a selfish leader who hid while in office and emerges now in hopes of clouding history. And avoiding a war crimes tribunal.

Wow George! I didn't know liberals ever heard of the constitution or bill of rights.
I still stand by my belief that you do what you have to do in order to get information from the enemy.
I have a friend who lived in the Hanoi Hilton for a little over three years. He said that he would take water boarding any day over what the enemy did to him and many others during his vacation.
Of course the liberals are now threatening us by having Sotomayor
being named as a Supreme Court justice.
If that happens you can kiss the constitution,Bill of Rights, and nearly all other rights we are supposed to have,BYE BYE.
Waterboarding is a gimmee compared to lopping off ones head to show us the rabid Muslims will do anything that comes to mind.
If anyone would not resort to 'anything goes' for those that hate us,the next person might be your wife or daughter, husband or son.
If they took your loved ones and hid them out for a week or so, and you knew someone that knew where and when they were going to be put to death but they wouldn't tell you; I suppose that you would say,"well, I guess we'll just have to hope that they will let them go." If you would not resort to any method to get that information, You are a certified coward!!---Goose

Well, if Cheney stole the Constitution, is Obama now doing the same?

How dare you compare that creep to a reptile? There is some honor among my snakes, at least you know to watch out for them and they tend to warn you of their proximity!

Cheney just strikes!

Jeez, that is a supreme insult to the animals that at least serve a purpose and have an important role in the food chain.

Say you're sorry~

If an individual is placed in the position you describe at the end of your rant then perhaps that individual, absent law enforcement, might be inclined to take "justice" into their own hands. Though those actions would almost certainly prove unhelpful.

In the case of state sanctioned torture, my country does not do that. Your intent, I believe, is to call those of us who do not sanction such torture, cowards.

You do know that "24" is not a reality show, don't you?

Goose, if you are looking for cowards, look no further than Dick Cheney. In the 1960s, Dick Cheney got five draft deferments during the Vietnam war. Looking back, he said
in a Washington Post interview, “I had other priorities in the 60’s than
military service.”

My Mr. Boles how you put words in my mouth,!! I did not say that those who opposed such actions were cowards. I said and I'll say it again that those who would not do anything to save a loved one or friend.is a coward.
I am completely at a loss for words to comment on your diatribe about my feelings.
Make no mistake about it ,law enforcement will do nothing except under circumstances that a law has already been broken.
If you want to prosecute someone for their actions, you might start with Jimmy Carter.During his campaign he repeatedly said"I will not lie to you.
Then,it was I'll never sign over the Panama Canal. That's our ditch.
Then within days after being inagurated, he signed over that
'ditch'
Then there is William Jefferson Clinton, who blew up a dangerous aspirin factory, plus did nothing about the 'COLE'.He lied continually about affairs he had,to the point that he openly tried to make the women involved, look like the agressor
Is Dick Cheney a monster?? Not hardly.trying to protect those that are protecting your butt,is something any leader would do.

George,if in fact he said that then you are correct in calling him a coward.
Your bloggers seem to think that I am a Dick Cheney fan. Pretty far from the truth. Methods and substance is what I am looking at.
It's a verifiable fact that many lives have been saved due to information gathered from detainees,by various and sundry means.----Goose

A new punching bag?

Almost every day, Dick Cheney goes on national television to spread more lies as he tries to revise history.

When he stops, I'll stop.

He is old and out of office. Get some new material. Surely there must be some target rich folks up there in the cold north. Ha!

Dick Cheney is dirty.

No amount of white-wash will clear him. "Old and out of office" would never stand up in court.

Read his about secret exploits in today's Washington Post at

Dick Cheney is dirty. That'swhy he is running scared.

You didn't answer my question.

Go ahead. Spring your trap. You're the lawyer.

The South Plainsman said...

Relax. Just pulling your chain a bit.

Obama seems to be following the same policies Cheney advocated, just calling it by a different name.

That is probably because he, like Bush and Cheney, thinks they are necessary to protect the country.

Let's go on Sotomayor. Years ago, thanks in large part to
Biden, possibly the smartest legal brain to ever have been nominated to the Supremes, Robert Bork, was dragged around in liberal mud for no cause. Now we have a genuine 'what ever I think comes before the constitution'candidate.
Surely even the liberals can come up with a pro-AmericanInstead of a 'pro my thought individual.
Don't give me this crap about she's right in her attitude because she's of Latin descent.
I've got 7 gramdkids who are of 'latin descent' that are anti anyone who tries to bring race and so called 'historical causes' into the fray.
Sotomayor is just plain bad in her principles and ideals.
Get her out!! --Goose

We now have amateurs running the show. The fact that all of our nuclear weapon details were posted online is an indication of the dunderhead intellectuals and all of their twitter savvy. Rahm Emanuel is a scumbag and unfortunately he's now calling the shots. Obama is merely a pandering teleprompter mouthpiece who couldn't run a taco stand. This Supreme Court appointment is so typical of the Left. Affirmative action smoke screen that we're all going to be stuck with long after the Messiah fades. Talk about wearing thin!!!!
