Guns and politics -- dangerous

The signs are growing more ominous.

Militias are on the rise in the U.S. Guns are getting to be commonplace at public meetings to discuss politics. One vacuous guy who was openly carrying a gun said (in response to a question) he thought the meeting would be safer if 1,000 people showed up packing heat.

Protesters carry signs with scarred with swastikas. One man had a sign that spoke directly to his point: “Death to Obama.” His sign also read “Death to Michelle and her two stupid kids.”

Where the hell are the sensible leaders from the right who are brave enough to step up and call for a cease fire!

Stop pandering to these crazies. Stop the fear mongering and paranoia that validates these extremists. This madness has got to stop.

Violent repercussions are one trigger-jerk away.

Disagreeing with the President is not pandering to the crazies.

You are right. Guns and politics should not be mixed.

We are a nation of laws. Nothing should ever be decided by force or threats of force.

Our predessors fought too hard and too long to make this nation. Nobody on either side should be allowed to change it except through fair elections and fairly conducted debates and votes in the Congress, or Constutional Amendments approved by the States.

Period.

George your audience may not be huge but it should be, as you're hammering away to make a strong argument for pulling back from the abyss before somebody gets killed. Keep at it.

I would hope that the sign holder you mentioned has by now had his interview with the Secret Service. If the sign did mention the death of children, may I interview him, please?

When guns are not outlawed (controlled)all the outlaws will have guns.

How do you second amendment people make the leap from a "well regulated militia" to the advocacy of virtually unregulated gun ownership? I would think that registering your weapons would appeal to you. When they are stolen or used against you then they can be returned to you or your heirs.

You want to know something about emotion emanating from someone who was there taking the final pictures of JFK? Talk to George. I am damned sick of these idiots who are either insane, ignorant or demonic. carrying guns to so-called town meetings....You want some irony? Tomorrow and Saturday Bob Huffaker and I will be interviewed in the Dallas police station where Lee Harvey Oswald was brought in and later shot. We are being interviewed for the Discovery Channel on our participation in the events after the assassination 1963.
So everyone was shocked in 1963...howabout when Reagan was shot or the attempt on Ford? SO HAVE WE LEARNED A DAMNED THING SINCE THEN? NO! WE HAVE LEARNED THE NRA EVIDENTLY LOVES THE DANGERS OF THESE FOOLS CARRYING WEAPONS TO POLITICAL DISCUSSIONS(?) NICE IF THEY WERE. there was a ton incivility around here in Dallas in the 60's...but now it is a couple hundred times worse. THE FOOLS ARE YELLING ABOUT SOCIALISM MAYBE THEY SHOULD LOOK AT THE WORD ANARCHY. ENOUGH!!!

John, if you buy guns or ammunition, your guns are "registered."

The reason why the Framers put the Second Amendment in place was so the government could not disarm the public.

Improper use of a gun can get one a long term in prison.

That's enough.

Bill, I am not here to defend carrying guns to political meetings. That is outrageous.

It was illegal to use the weapons used against President Kennedy and Lee Harvey Oswald, and in Texas, it was illegal for Ruby to even possess the pistol, but it didn't stop either of the shooters.

Lee Harvey Oswald's action were not a result of the "incivility" in Dallas, but the act of a bitter man who hated us all.

Where were you and all the other liberals when the Weather Underground, Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dorhn were actively trying to kill people? And when one of their pals was running for President.

There has been as much leftist violence as rightest violence over the years, but only the rightist violence is condemned. Of course, it should be. But so should the left wingers like Ayers and Dorhn suffer public approbation for their mindless violence.

But I will bet you guys all defend Obama's association with them.

George I think your fears about the crazies and someone getting killed are well founded. Witness the campus killings, planned parenthood physician shot to death, massacre at health club. I own two handguns and two shotguns(all registered)which thanks to the second amendment I can. However, I am frankly scared of the militant types that tout their right to bear arms under the second amendment. These people are just wrong!

For the anonymous guy, let me quote to you the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

Now mind you, the Militia is to be to preserve the security of a State, not the Federal Government, and the right to keep and bear arms is a right of the people, not the government, and is an individual right.

My thought is that if that makes you uncomfortable, move to England, where those rights don't exist.

Then you will be free to be knifed by a Muslim.

I own just a small portion of guns I used to own.I have collected guns for sometime. I have never had a thought about carrying a weapon into any political meeting.
I go to the meetings to learn about situations good or bad that are eminating from the speakers.
Would I yell in protest if the ideals that I possess, don't get considered for comment. You betcha!
I have been to large number of gun shows. There have been problems at only two that I know about.
Bill, should know that I live in Arlington.I am a believer that only One,ONE, person was responsible for the shooting of Oswald.
There are a lot of people that do not like how things are going in today's world. If you want anarchy, stretch your arms to the east, and the Obama camp, You'll find the reason why. Perhaps Bill is also against the revolution that freed this country.Don't paint those who believe that this country is in deep trouble under Obama, with a broad brush.
Bill needs to get off his high horse and get in the subject line that Obama would place us all.---Goose

South Plainsman says it is illegal to own guns in the UK. So how come I live next door to a gun dealer?
